"Ask the experimenters why they experiment on animals, and the answer is: “Because the animals are like us.” Ask the experimenters why it is morally okay to experiment on animals, and the answer is: “Because the animals are not like us.” Animal experimentation rests on a logical contradiction."

Company: Dr. Dennis Gross SkincareProduct: Extra Strength Alpha Beta PeelVerdict: 5/5
  Okay, I’m just going to go ahead and jump right into this- I cannot say enough about this product! Dr Dennis Gross Skincare has completely transformed the way I look at my skin.  My noticeably large pores have always altered the way my makeup looks no matter how good of quality I buy, which in turn leaves my wallet light and my skin extremely unhappy. Fortunately, Dr Dennis Gross Skincare has produced the revolutionary product of my dreams- the Extra Strength Alpha Beta Peel.
This miracle comes in a two-step treatment of pre-soaked cotton towelettes. Perfect for the traveler, or for those who have minimal storage space. The package promises to visibly reduce wrinkles, fade dark spots, and minimize pores, and I can safely say I have seen a noticeable difference in my skins appearance. Before I go to bed I simply take my first towelette labeled step one, and apply it to my clean, dry skin in small circular motions over my entire face and my neck. Next, after waiting two or so minutes I repeat the process and apply the towelette labeled step two using the same technique.
Not only was I thrilled with the simplicity of this incredible skincare product and the fact that it actually works; it also miraculously didn’t irritate my sensitive skin at all!  And to add to the continuing list of great qualities, Dr Dennis Gross Skincare products are also all paraben free, cruelty free, and 100% vegan!
If you have visibly large pores, dark spots, or wrinkles that you are just eagerly waiting to reduce or get rid of, I highly suggest checking out the Extra Strength Alpha Beta Peel!
Also, take a look at the Dr Dennis Gross Skincare website and scope out some of their other amazing products.
The lowdown;
Pros
It is actually successful in reducing my pores, making applying makeup smoothly 100% easier
Easily portable, and uses minimal storage space
It doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin
Paraben free
Cruelty free and 100% Vegan!
 Cons
My only con would be individually packaged towelettes. Minimal packaging is always a big win with me, but unfortunately with towelettes I can see how it would be difficult to alter the packaging without tampering the product! Other than that, this product is a definite win for me!

Vegetarianism- Myth’s VS. Reality

Just like anything humans do in life, with a label such as ‘vegetarian’, ridiculous myths and rumors sneak along with it.

Myth-All vegetarians are healthy and slim

Reality- Just like any type of diet, whether it be meat or plant based, humans have the chance of gaining or losing weight. Becoming a vegetarian does NOT necessarily mean you are going to lose weight. In fact, it could mean quite the opposite. Without proper research or motivation a vegetarian diet can become just as unhealthy, if not unhealthier than prior eating habits. Some people choose to replace their meat intake with more than sufficient amounts of junk food rather than snacking on a few healthier choices such as fruits and vegetables. So to sum it up- being labelled as a vegetarian does not automatically make you healthy, nor does it make you slim. Just like any diet it takes time and practice!

Myth-All vegetarians want to brainwash you into becoming ‘one of them’

Reality- I can’t even stress how false this statement is. First of all, categorizing a large group of people and saying that they’re all the same is an extremely unfair judgement. We, as humans, are all different. Each and every one of us become a vegetarian for different reasons, and there are indeed some people who will want to push their morals and their beliefs on vegetarianism right down your throat. But- and this is very important- we do not all do that! No different than meat eaters who choose NOT to interrogate vegetarians. See where I’m going with this?

Myth- Vegetarians live off of leaves and tofu (AKA-“their food has no taste”)

Reality- This one is probably the most common statements I hear about vegetarians, and it makes me giggle every time. First of all, their is a HUGE variety of vegetarians that do not incorporate tofu in their diet at all. Some don’t like the taste of it, others just don’t feel it’s a necessity. Second of all, becoming a vegetarian was by far the best thing I have ever done for my taste-buds. As a girl who loves to cook, cooking vegetarian dishes has opened up an entire new world to my culinary cravings. It has given me the opportunity to conquer new challenges, indulge in new treats, and even fix old favorite recipes. And to be completely honest with you, salad has probably been one of my least frequent dishes since becoming a vegetarian ;)  I mean it when I say this, vegetarian or not- don’t knock it til’ you try it!

We all know there is a million more myths involving vegetarians but these three definitely stick out most in my mind. I would LOVE to hear your ‘favorite’ vegetarian myth’s- send me a message in my ask telling me your goofy vegetarian stories :)

"Can I Eat That?" -A Vegetarian Starters Guide On Cruelty Free Eating

Most people think of a vegetarian as a person who simply doesn’t consume meat. While they’re correct, the list of ‘vegetarian-unfriendly’ foods contains more than just meat. Most vegetarians take the extra mile and make sure that anything they consume doesn’t contain any trace of animal in it, and as many people don’t know, this means watching everything you eat, down to your favorite candies!

So I thought I would put together an easy go-to guide on which ingredients to look out for on packaged foods;

  • Gelatin- Gelatin is basically a mixture of animal bones and skin, and is found in several different types of popular snacks. Gelatin is found in marshmallows, gummy bears, Jello- basically check the label on all of the ‘gooey’ type of snacks just to be sure! (Fortunately for us there are some vegetarian/vegan alternatives to marshmallows, Jello, and Gummy-bears, try googling it!)
  • Animal Rennet-  This particular ingredient is one of the most frustrating for me. Rennet is obtained by scraping the inside of cows stomachs who are killed for veal. Does that sound appealing to you? The most frustrating part is very few people know about it! Whenever I ask someone if they cheese has rennet in it or something of the sort they literally do not believe me when I tell them what it is! However, there are rennet-free cheeses on the market, try going to your local grocery store and checking out the ingredient labels to find a rennet-free cheese suited to you.
  • Flavor- To me, this ingredient name is so deceiving. Flavor could mean pretty much anything! It could simply mean flavor derived from a fruit, herb, leaf, or instead it could be poultry or meat. So in turn, I end up not buying whatever product I’m reading in the likely case that it means it’s derived from an animal.
  • Enzymes- This is pretty much the exact same story as ‘flavor’. Enzymes could be derived from anything, including animals, so I tend to just stay away from products with them listed under their ingredients.

Unfotunately, this list is only a fraction of ingredients that aren’t vegetarian friendly. I suggest checking out this website- www.veganwolf.com - and checking out their list of ingredients to be weary of!

Basically, make sure you read the label of each and every processed food you buy to make sure you’re not silently consuming animal ingredients!

Packing My Suitcase- The Cruelty Free (and over-packed) Way-

So I was sitting here thinking about what to pack in my suitcase for my trip to ‘The Lake’ tomorrow (as my family likes to call it- it’s a beautiful campground my aunt and uncle run) and I decided to do a combined packing list (or else I wont ever get it done) and an informative post on what to pack in a ‘Cruelty Free Suitcase’ So heres the lowdown of my list for ‘essentials’

Thats about all of the ‘beauty products’ that I packed. But don’t be fooled, from the look of my suitcase you would never be able to tell. I don’t know what it is about going away on a trip, but all of a sudden I get this.. ‘feeling’ to pack EVERYTHING. All of the products I practically never use? “But I MIGHT NEED THEM!” Yes, I’m ‘one of those’. I’m legitimately the worlds worst packer, and it should be illegal for me to be aloud to do it. I have to resist every urge to pack my whole house into the car.

So in the end, my suitcase is the home of three times the amount of clothes I need, makeup I won’t even use when I’m there, 3 pairs of shoes too many, and a bagful of ‘things-to-do-on-the-way-there’ that will never even be considered to do when I actually get into the car.

But there is no sense in fighting it! So…I’m off to pack some jewelry! ;)

    Company: Pure Enchantment Products: Natural Body ProductsVerdict: 5/5Every once in awhile my life goes from being quite…slow-paced (and that’s putting it lightly) to a 10K marathon race in only a matter of minutes.  So when I’m able to finally sit down and relax I don’t even want to think!  Usually, to relax my weary bones and get my head out of the work zone, I take a warm bath with all of the ingredients for relaxation; Some scented candles, luxurious bath salts, a calming mud mask, a delectable scrub, and of course some light lotion to massage on when I’m finished to top off the ‘spa experience’. I decided to indulge in Pure Enchantment’s Rosemary Mint Natural Body Scrub first. The delectable scrub smells almost like Christmas, with a strong, but relaxing, scent of mint and a light touch of Rosemary. I took a small amount in my fingers and massaged it all over my body, making sure to get every inch of my skin. The mint act’s as a cooling agent, leaving your body with a strangely likeable  ’tingly’ feeling all over your skin. After I was finished soaking my thoughts I jumped out of the tub’ and grabbed Pure Enchantment’s Peaches & Cream Goat’s Milk Lotion. I poured a generous amount in the palm of my hand, and massaged it all over my body. This lotion has an incredibly smooth and silky texture and a perfectly concocted light, sugary scent of Peaches and Cream that lingers on your skin for just the right amount of time. After I was finished, my skin was not only smooth as a baby’s bottom, but I smelt just like my favorite summer snack! You can check out Pure Enchantment’s lovely line of delectable body products at their Website. I highly recommend checking out their huge selection beautiful bar soaps as well, you won’t regret it! The lowdown;

    Company: T.TAiOProduct: Stretch Bath & Shower ClothOverall Verdict: 5/5
As I’m sure every other girl in the world is too, I’ve been counting down the days for suntan season since…..well, since last suntan season ended! A girl can only go so long looking ghostly, and when summer comes, let me tell you, I get my tan on! Luckily, I have been blessed with the ability to tan like a cave woman. I can spend a matter of minutes in the sun and come back in the house looking like I spent the weekend laying on a black rock. But a lesson I have unfortunately learned (more than once) is to prime, prime, PRIME, your skin before you tan. By prime- I mean get rid of all of the lingering dead skin cells that are plotting to make your tan as un-even and blotchy as possible. I’m not joking when I say there is no better way to make your skin suntan-ready than with T.TAiO’s Stretch Bath & Shower Cloth! It stretches so you can reach all the places you can’t normally reach (unless you happen to be a contortionist)  and eliminates dead skin cells, and stimulates your blood circulation so you an achieve a smooth, flawless tan!  This is definitely going to be put in my ‘summer staple’s box’! (Its more like a drawer, but who’s judging?)
Finish your tan preparation with some major UV Sun Screen protection, an extremely girly drink, (I like Shirley Temples!) some loud music, and you’re set to get your tan on!
PS. T.TAIO’s Stretch Bath & Shower Cloth doubles as a REALLY good back-scratcher!
You can purchase T.TAiO’s Body Scrubbers on their Website! They also have similar Body Scrubbers with handles, as well several other great bath and body products!

    Would you like a ‘Deer Leg Lamp’ with your Sofa?

    The other day me and my mom were shopping in Save On Foods, laa dee daa, buying some fruits and veggies, a little bit of faux meat, maybe some salted crackers, all that normal stuff. We finished paying for our goodies, and headed on out. We took a pit-stop at the “message board” I suppose you could call it, (It seems I’m stuck in Animal Crossing mode) and took a gander at all of the posters and flyers.

    I literally gagged when I came across this one particular advertisment….a ‘Deer Leg Lamp’. A lamp. Made from deer legs. It was so disgusting, I got these mad shivers all down my body, it was like something you would see in a horror movie. You know when they show the crazy guys house, and they have all of these morbid things like eyeballs in the fridge.. yeah, it was that bad.

    And then it got even worse. From the same seller, there was a “Deer-Owl” ….. what? They took a deer’s butt and contorted it to look like an owl. Yup, just like something you’d see in a crazy guy’s house.

    After I got over the shock of how morbidly disgusting the whole thing was, I took off all of the posters, crumpled them, and threw them in the garbage.

    If I could live off of one thing for the rest of my life it would definitely be stuffed mushrooms. There is something about the texture of a cooked, crispy mushroom vs. a smooth cream cheese filling that completely tickles my fancy.
With most things I make, I literally make it up, and these are especially perfect to throw in ‘whatever you like’ so here is a basic ‘recipe’ I use, alter as you please!
12 Large Mushrooms Minced Garlic- 2-3 cloves Handful of Chives, minced1 (8 ounce) Package of Cream CheeseRed Onions, minced (I usually put in about 1/4 cup.. it depends on the day)1/2 TSP of PaprikaGroup pepper to taste
Remove the stems from your mushrooms (be sure to save them). sometimes I need to carve a bigger hole in the mushroom so I can fill it to the maximum with the extremely delicious (non-fattening of course…) stuffing.
I usually beat the cream cheese until its slightly fluffy, and then I cut up the leftover stems into itty-bitty pieces, and then I throw in the minced garlic, onions, and chives.  I mix that until its… mixed well, and then I throw in the spices. Sometimes I add a bit of cayenne pepper for the fun of it. Cook them in a pre-heated oven at 350 degrees F. You will know they are done when they are oozing with oils (again, none-fattening..)
