Cruelty Free Beauty Tip #4:
Women’s hair, along with skin-care, seems to be one of the most high-maintenance things to take care of. Along with that, it also seems to be one of the most expensive.When you add up countless shampoos, conditioners, hair masks, deep conditioners, heat protectant, ect, ect- you get the point- the cost definitely lightens your wallet! However, not many ladies are let in on the secret of the wonderful benefits that at-home hair products give! One of my favorite things to do on a rainy day (or any day for that matter) is to make my own cruelty free and natural deep conditioning hair mask!
All you need are a few household things:
- Half of an Avocado
- One Egg
- About 1-2 tablespoons of Oil- any will do! (I like to switch it up from plain Olive Oil to Coconut when I’m feeling really fancy)
All you have to do is mix them all together, apply to dry hair-I suggest you apply it over the bathtub, it gets pretty messy- and wrap your hair in a shower-cap or plastic bag (I secure the back of it with a ponytail so it fits nice and snug) and then wrap a towel around your head, to help warm up the mask so it absorbs easily and faster.
Depending on how much time you have, you can leave this hair mask on for however long you like. Somdays when I have nowhere to go and I’m just hanging out at home in my PJ’s, I will leave it on all day. Or if you’re short on time- an hour or so will do just fine!
When I’m good and ready to take the hair mask out, I just rinse it out in the shower with a bit of shampoo. Once your hair is clean and dry you will definitely notice a difference- your luscious lock are now soft, smooth and shiny, hooray!
Extras;
- If you’re vegan or eggs just aren’t an option, try using half of a mashed banana in replacement to help give your hair a little extra nutrients!
- To give this recipe a little extra ‘heat’ I like to warm up the oil before I mix it in with the other ingredients- Not only is it a deep conditioning hair mask, it’s ahot oil treatment too!
